NZSSAA U17 and U18 Team to the Australian National Championships, Adelaide, April 15-19 2024
Congratulations to our team for their fine performances at the Australian Athletics Championships recently held in Adelaide. The Australian Athletics Nationals Experience in Adelaide 2024 was a fantastic experience for our U17 and U18 athletes. Some incredible results from our team of athletes. Highlights have to be Imogen Barlow who took out a trifecta of Gold Medals for the WU17 800m, 1500m and 3000m, and each time she was well ahead of the next runner. Para Athlete Charli Gardiner-Hall also had a number of medal successes with a Gold in the F37 Discus, Silvers in the F37 Shot Put and Javelin. Cooper Wightman also with his Gold in the MU18 800m and followed that up with a Silver in the MU18 1500m. Our other medalists included a silver for Kendra Scally-Tu’I for WU17 200m; bronze for Zarah Rattray in the WU18 400m Hurdles, Karmen Maritz with a Gold in the WU17 Discus, Melelosaline Lose with a bronze in the WU18 Discus, Asher Robertson with a Silver in the MU17 High Jump competition, Noa King bronze medal in the MU17 400m and Jacqui Nasrabadi with a bronze in the WU17 Long Jump. The level of competition in Australia was of a significant standard, and this was certainly appreciated by all of our athletes – because of this, the athletes achieved new PBs and were very close to podium placings. The overall experience for our team was incredibly valuable, and it is my hope the athletes and their families continue to seek out international competition as they progress through their athletics journey in coming years. Special thanks to Assistant Team Managers Owen Westerhout, Annmarie McDonald and Team Physio Tony Snell. Judy Revell |
