Delay to 2021 Annual General Meeting
NZSSAA Executive have confirmed that 2021 AGM will be held over until the NZSS Cross Country Championships in June 2022. As per the constitution if the Annual General Meeting is unable to be held during the Association’s Championships, the previously elected Officers and Executive committee shall remain in office until the next Annual General Meeting. |
CANCELLATION: Track & Field and Road Championships and Athletics NZ Under 18 & Under 16s
It is with regret we announce the cancellation of the NZSSAA Track & Field and Road Championships due to be held in Inglewood, Taranaki from December 16-18. Owing to earlier issues with Covid this event was to be a dual Championships in association with Athletics NZ’s delayed Under 18 Championship and a trial Under 16 event. |
New Zealand Secondary Schools Track & Field and Road Championships and Athletics NZ Under 18 and Under 16 Championships
NOTE: This event is now cancelled As a result of the change in the dates for the commencement and conclusion of the NCEA Examination Timetable a decision to change the dates of the championships to be hosted in Inglewood has been taken to now begin on Thursday December 16 and finish on Saturday December 18. The NZSSAA Executive and Athletics NZ are very aware of the keen desire to hold the championships, if at all possible and are very grateful to the Taranaki Local Organising Committee for being prepared to do their best to achieve that outcome. Except for the Day/Date changes the Guideline Programme will remain as published except that the first day of the championships now begins an hour earlier with all events on day one of the programme advanced accordingly. The dates published in Newsletter 1, including the opening, and closing of entries, will be delayed by approximately two weeks, and will be updated in Newsletter 2. In reaching this decision NZSSAA has worked closely with School Sport NZ, and we thank them for their support. Cross Country Championships
The 47th running of the New Zealand Secondary Schools Cross-Country Championships and the 5th New Zealand Secondary Schools Regional Cross-Country Relay Championships will be held at the A&P Showgrounds, Hawera, 19-20 June.

2021 Hughes Memorial Cross Country Race
The Hawera Harrier Club invite you to the 2021 Hughes Memorial Cross Country Race: Looking for something to do this Queen’s Birthday weekend? Come along to South Taranaki and join in one of the greatest Cross Country races around. This race is run over farmland with hills, mud and jumps and is always enjoyed by competitors. In 2021 this will be the course for the New Zealand Secondary Schools Cross Country Champs, so an awesome opportunity for high school students to come and check the course out. This is also a great course for spectators to access and see lots of racing. The Hughes Memorial is well known in the Taranaki, Manawatu and Whanganui areas not only for the great course and competition but also the amazing afternoon tea, hot soup and prizes. So gather up a group and come along for a fun weekend away – while you’re here you can visit the mountain (several family friendly walking/running tracks), the beaches, the cafes, the museum or head off to another town in the region. Attached is the flyer with all the information you should need and the entry form. Here’s the basics:
