World Schools Athletics Championships11 September 2012 8:09pm In June 2013 the ISF is holding a World Schools Athletics Championship in the Czech Republic and we would like to offer the opportunity to NZ schools to attend. NZ is entitled to send 1 boys school team and 1 girls school team – these are not representative teams, but school teams and all members of a team must be from the same school. Should school teams go we are then eligible to send 1 boys “selected” team and 1 girls “selected” team as NZ teams with athletes selected from various schools. NZSSAA Executive has decided not to take up this opportunity to send selected teams next year but is encouraging schools to consider applying to us to have their school-based team selected to go. All costs associated with entry, uniforming, accommodation and travel are the responsibility of the selected school. Please send your application detailing the athletes you would be taking, their dates of birth, the events they would do and their personal best perfomances with any explanatory notes to oe@nzssaa.org.nz. The closing date for applications is November 12 2012. Management/Coaching personnel costs also need to be considered. Each team of six requires a manager/coach. Should 2 different schools be selected NZSSAA would wish to send a head of delegation/overall manager the costs to met equally by both schools and NZSSAA. Final entries will be made through NZSSSC as the member body of ISF. |

Managers' Function and Athlete Disco15 June 2012 1:46pm Please be aware there is both a managers’ function and athlete disco on Saturday night after the championship. Details about both functions will be included in your registration pack. If you are an Auckland based school or are staying in Auckland on Saturday night before traveling home can you please promote the disco with your athletes. The disco has 250 students attending but currently needs a further 100 more tickets to be sold to enable it to proceed so that expenses can be covered. The disco is fully supervised with paid security to ensure student safety and runs from 7pm to 10pm at the Ellerslie Events Center. The annual NZSSCC disco is a great way for athletes to be rewarded for the effort they have given over the season with other likeminded students. A top DJ and light show will ensure athletes have a great time. The managers’ function has been organised only 200m from the athlete disco at Acacia restaurant and bar and runs for the duration of the disco. Representatives from the NZSSAA executive will be present and this is a great opportunity for team mangers to socialize knowing their students are in a supervised and safe environment. Tickets for the disco can be purchased on Saturday from the registration marquee. If possible please help support this great event. It has been organised 100% for the athletes and is not being held as a money generating exercise. |
