Scratchings now closed

8 December 2011 9:55am

Scratchings from individual events in the Track and Field Championships have now closed and any scratching from Thursday December 8 on is a scratching from all events.

There are a small number of schools who are yet to pay for their entries. Manager’s packs for those schools will be withheld until proof of payment is presented or payment is made at the Technical Information Centre (TIC). A very big thank you to the great majority who have made their payments on time.

Update: Please note that the time for the Open Boys’ and Open Girls’ Walks have been swapped. Please contact oe@nzssaa.org.nz if this may a problem.

The timed programme is now available.

Managers please check your entries, particularly that AWD athletes are entered in the correct category and events, e.g. AWD combined road race or in the able bodied races. Please also remember to complete your scratchings on time. To scratch an athlete from an individual event, login and go to Browse Entries, open the athlete concerned and clear the events they wish to withdraw from.

If athlete names have not appeared in the entries so far it means that entries still have to be paid for. Login, go to Payment and Proceed to Checkout and complete payment. Manager packs will not be available until payment is made. Cheques or cash will be accepted at the Championships for unpaid entries.

Entries

19 November 2011 12:26pm

There have been some delays in the transfer of paid entries from the online entries system to the website that displays the entries publically. These entries are now up to date (please refresh the pages if it appears to still be an old list). If your school entries are listed under Browse Entries in the online entries system, then they have been received.

Please note that athlete names will not appear here until the entry fees have been paid. All entry fees must be paid prior to the beginning of the championships.

NZSSAA AGM

12 November 2011 10:55am

The AGM will be held at the conclusion of the managers’ meeting at Newtown Park Function Room on Friday 9 December. The managers’ meeting begins at 6.00pm.

Any notices of motion should be sent to Alec McNab by November 21 please.

Scratchings Reminder

12 November 2011 10:53am

Any athlete wishing to withdraw from an event must have their school do that through the online entries system by the time for final scratchings which is midnight Wednesday 7 December or they are liable for exclusion from the meeting. Any scratchings after Wednesday 7 December are for the complete scratching of an individual from the Track and Field Championships.

N.B. The Road Race and the Track and Field Championships are separate championships and scratching from one after Wednesday does not stop an athlete taking part in the other. Scratchings are not required for the road race unless the team manager plans to substitute a replacement runner.

Continuation of Year 9 grade at the Road Race Championships

7 October 2011 12:00am

Update: The Executive would like to thank the many people who emailed their thoughts on this suggestion, all of whom saw the advantages of retaining the Year 9 grade for the Road Race. As a consequence of this feedback we will continue to offer this grade at our Road Race Championships.

Original proposal: Feedback on the whether or not to continue with the Year 9 grade at the Road Race championships after this year would be appreciated. There has been some discussion about the generally lowish participation rate in this event and whether it would be best to revert to just having a Junior (U16) grade. This would have the effect of improving the level of competition in the Junior grade particularly in the teams races. Counter to this is the desirability of providing an introductory event that is not too daunting for our year 9 students. There are a number of other pros and cons to consider but rather than direct thinking too much the executive is interested in the thoughts and opinions of interested people who have been involved such as coaches, managers, parents and competitors. Please email your response to John Tylden at oe@nzssaa.org.nz . The intention is to discuss a possible change at our December AGM.
