NZSSAA Track Field and Road Race Championships 2015 Programme

8 April 2015 11:58am

Following requests from the Timaru LOC and Athletics NZ Officials Technical Committee to consider the possibility of a 3 day programme or a half day extension to the current programme to accommodate the Hammer, Pole Vault and possibly some field event qualifying pools the NZSSAA Executive have agreed to the latter option for 2015, beginning no earlier than 1pm on Friday. If there are to be field event pools it is expected that this would be most likely occur in the junior girls and senior boys Long Jump. If this scenario is likely to create difficulties for athletes who could be struggling to arrive in time to compete, please email John Tylden, oe@nzssaa.org.nz so that the extent of the problem can be assessed.

The possibility of a 3 day meeting for 2016 will be considered at the next Executive meeting in early May and a draft programme will be developed and posted online for comment with the aim of achieving a decision at the 2015 AGM in Timaru. Any further submissions are welcome and can be emailed to John Tylden, oe@nzssaa.org.nz.

South Islands: Information Two and Hurdles

11 March 2015 9:02am

Information Two is now available.

Non-compliant Hurdles

Please be aware we have tried to get new compliant hurdles for the SISS Athletic Champs 2015. These have been ordered for some time but unfortunately our supplier has informed us that they will not arrive in time for our competition.

This now means the hurdles at the SISS Athletic Champs will be non-IAAF compliant. Be aware this means they are not suitable for record purposes but placings at competition will be upheld. We apologise for this inconvenience.

NZSSAA Track, Field and Road Race Championships, December 4-6, Timaru

25 February 2015 5:40pm

The Timaru LOC have asked Executive to consider extending the championships to either 3 days or 2.5 days to accommodate events that either take up considerable time and arena space or pose a safety risk if other events are on at the same time. They also have concerns about the pressure of a two day event on officials who are faced with long hours of officiating in order to complete all the events on offer. Their letter is available here for your information and feedback. Please email your thoughts to John Tylden oe@nzssaa.org.nz . Executive will make a decision on the request at our meeting in late March. In the meantime people intending to go to the championships should plan their travel and accommodation to take in the possibility of some events at least being on the Friday particularly Hammer and Pole Vault and possibly Long Jump qualifying rounds as requested.
